I live in the heart of the Suffolk countryside, where I am spoilt for fantastic rivers and coastline.
I had my introduction to fishing at 17 when I met my now husband, tagging along on his trips was a way to spend time with him. Slowly but surly his passion rubbed off on me, and now it is how I spend as much of my spare time as possible. Fishing to me has always been a way to get out and spend time in the counryside, all of my best wildlife encounters have been whilst I've been fishing. Getting to enjoy the tranquillity of the water and the beauty of nature, but then the extreme buzz and thrill of the stalk and the take! Can't beat it! Jonny and I can often be found fishing from our Nucanoe Kayak quietly floating down the river in search of Northern Pike.
I love traveling and have been fortunate to fish in some beautiful parts of the world, I have caught some awsome fish but I just find that my bucket list keeps growing! It was whilst I was traveling New Zealand that I discovered fly tying and over the last 8 years I have been developing my tying skills and now demonstrate at fly shows around the UK and Ireland. I am a member of the Pro Teams for Partridge, Foxy Tails, Regal Vices and Bug Bond. I am also excited to say at in 2016 I joined the Hardy fly fishing pro team.
In 2015 I was lucky enough to be chosen to be a contestant on BBCs Earths Wildest Waters : The Big Fish. This competition sent 8 of us to spectacular locations around the world, using all the fishing skills we possessed and learning new ones from the locals. I battled my way to the semi final held in British Columbia, but unfortunately missed out on a place in the final after losing an epic 40 minute battle with a White Sturgeon on the Fraser river. It was the most amazing experience and I was so lucky to be involved, I made some lifelong friends and got the chance to go after some awesome fish!
Womens fishing is becoming more popular in the UK and I hope that my involvement in The Big Fish may have inspired other women to have a go and get hooked like I did!
